A varied seed mix is the foundation of a healthy diet for most parrots and pet

birds — sunflower, safflower, millet and specialty grains each bring their own

mix of fats, protein and energy, and different species thrive on different

blends depending on their size and activity level.

We stock seed mixes from Versele-Laga's Prestige range, formulated with input

from Loro Parque's own avian nutrition team, alongside single-ingredient

options like canary seed, sunflower and millet for owners who prefer to build

their own mix. You'll find blends sized for everything from budgies and

canaries through to macaws and African Greys, plus exotic nut and fruit mixes

as an occasional treat.

Seed should generally make up a smaller share of the diet than pellets for

most companion parrots, but it remains an important source of natural fats

and enrichment — and for canaries, finches and budgies, a good seed mix is
